Towing Electrics Types

7 pin (12N universal which work lights on trailer / board cycle carrier, caravan etc which can be installed with scotch locks but are best soldered in for better connection.

Twin 12N / 12S sockets are the older style mainly for caravans and we now only sell 13 pin (as below) which has taken over

13 Pin are now the modern type that are taking over from the twin 12N / 12S electrics most commonly used for caravans, the 13 pin socket combines both to give neater fit and works better with the flip up socket plate on Tow Trust detachable towbars, the 13 to twin adaptor can then convert the socket to twin electrics.

You may also require the 7 way smart bypass relay with all the above universal electrics as most modern vehicles have bulb failure systems or multipex/cambus wiring.

Dedicated electrics are vehicle specific and are made to marry up the the vehicles existing electrics, they are an advantage as in most cases they notify your vehicle that it is towing and work with the safety features (if fitted) like braking, ESP etc and also revering sensors on most vehicles.
